Divi Live at 5… August 28th
This Live at 5 can be found here. Nick starts out by talking about the heat. Maybe lose the beard, Nick?
Marketing
Zoe Cox, the new CMO, is now fully onboarded. The new website diviwallet.com is posted and also being updated. He showed some pics of the new design which should be loaded in next week. It refreshes the information from the old website such as the roadmap.
Zoe has been working on branding guidelines, which is basically a guidebook for creating content. Divi paid a designer to come up with everything. New and exciting to have. Here is an example of the new branding:
Nick gave shoutout to content creators! Divi always needs more!
New foundation website coming on board soon at diviproject.org. You may expect the new website to be up in September. But here is an sample. Looks great. It’s hard to delineate how much work and time this sort of stuff takes, but it is all in support of a cohesive marketing campaign that will be launched.
Don’t forget to catch Divi at work and play on their Instagram!
Development
The blockchain compression project with The Pacific Institute of Mathematical Science at The University of Calgary (PIMS) is wrapping up. Apparently it went very well. Nick was impressed with the student presentations. The Divi project students were very successful in acheiving their goals. 18% compression at this stage. It sounded like there was plenty of opportunity to continue the project and improve further.
Wallet
A new desktop release candidate being tested by the Beta Bashers. This is obviously a high priority, continuous task. So reporting on each iteration is relatively pointless.
Siege Worlds!
As you may recall Geoff and Nick invested in a company called Games Interactive. Their first blockchain powered, Divi enhanced, game is called Siege Worlds, which is a new type of MMORPG with tower defense and aspects of other game genres wrapped up in one. Newest update of Siege worlds shows procedurally generated landscapes
Chaulk
Chaulk is a side project that Nick is running that also is enchanced with Divi as well as other cryptocurrencies. It’s a casual esports platform. Beta starts on Sept 1st. There will be 40 people in the first round and they can win Divi and BTC.
Zap
Nick received a draft of light paper for the wrapped Divi, called eDivi, initiative. Nick seemed pretty jazzed about it and clearly can not wait to deliver this. eDivi offers the possiblity of cross chain staking. It offers the ability to get Divi involved in all the new DeFi stuff (that frankly, most people are going to lose their shirts on. It’s the ICO craze all over again. Honestly, the ability to move Divi to other chains opens up far cooler things that that, but that’s my opinion).
The partnership with Zap is getting attention in the cryptospace, and that is great for Zap and greast for Divi. Divi mentioned in Zap Medium update.
Events
Run for the Unicorns. As mentioned before this conference is not in person this year, so it’s virtual. But not Zoom! This is a video game you are in and can walk around virtually. Go to conferences and booths, stages, etc. mimics a conference.
Bitcoin Ben Blockchain Unmasked Tour
Ben driving an RV, going nationwide to outdoor, in perso,n events. Whole RV will be wrapped in Divi logos. It will be in San Diego on October 3rd. Nick will be there.
Divipay gateway
As you may know, Divi has already created a Shopify plug in to allow Shopify websites to accept Divi. If you haven’t seen it in action, buy some Syrup or coffee to experience how smooth it is. Well, the Divi team has created a Wordpress plug in for stores. A multicoin interface for wordpress ecommerce. More ecommerce platforms en route. Some pictures of the gateway:
New Exchange
Nope, Nick STILL can not announce the new exchange. Story remains the same. Divi has submitted everything. Waiting on exchange to announce. Nick promises it will be worth it.
Month in Review
New CFO, CTO, CMO, COO, Product manager, all off load from Nick and Geoff. Marketing campaigns have started, new websites going and more coming.
Divi forged new and important partnership with ZAP. Getting wrapped divi important for all of staking coins. This will get Divi get to interoperable blockchains.
Time for some Questions
As usual, sometimes Nick doesnt repeat the question, so I’ll just put the answer he mentioned.
Student sponsorships
A viewer has 19 year old and was wondering how to get involved. Nick said that Divi is not set up for internships. Willing to teach, but not set up for something formal. Please, also, send your eager teenagers into the community and into our development group to help build and learn.
Why is the Divi wallet website aimed at crypto enthusiasts?
Must pursue marketing at a certain demographic for the time being. Right now that is crypto enthusiasts. The funnel from crypto incognizent to crypto enthusiast is long and expensive. Divi not well known, not there yet. But the marketing foundational activities are what will help us make that jump.
Ridivi Fintech
Remittances are still in our domain, and will come along eventually. The brick and mortar remittance business has been pushed bakc in favor of some short term B2B use cases have been attractive. Ridivi is truly helping the economy in Costa rica by facilitating banking. We have a platform to use that website for businesses. SaaS for businesses. All that said, none of this temporary shift away from remitances affects any of the promised features in the wallet.
Introductions
Scott werner asks about having the new C suite introduce themselves. Yes, this is a great idea.
Will you open banks?
Not banks, Ridivi is a fintech service. Licensing in more places than CR. So yes, opening more Ridivi is a long term goal, but short term Ridivi is focusing on current successes in B2B services.
