I'll read the rest, but you are already off course. Way off course. Despite most of America NOT voting for the president, you seem to think that people do things because they like the choices in front of them. Elon is no different. This is lazy thinking and you arent usually a lazy thinker.
Elon is trying to get to the moon, mars, and to get us on an electrical energy platform before we pollute the planet completely.
When you understand this mission, you understand his method. You are a writer, imagine character whose mission is his. Your character starts the electric car boom single handedly raising average vehicular energy efficiency, your character solves the "last mile" problem for rural broadband that government never solved in decades, you character provides network access to allies in conflict that they could not have otherwise.
Then imagine the world your character lives in is such as the US. Also imagine that the party in power has events around electric cars, something he is expert in, and doesn't invite him. Imagine if people who identify as democrats go around and scratch his customers cars on a daily basis around the country. Imagine he does all that stuff and is then maligned for being rich and no other reason.
Which party would your character have chosen if this is his quest and experience? Would your character feel like the party in power was welcoming to his gigantic efforts?
You really think Elon really cares if he has 90 billion or 100 billion dollars? The man sleeps in a tiny house when he needs to be near work.
He does not care who is in power (and frankly most people in the US - 46% voter turn out, and no president has won a majority of registered voters... ever?) People only care if they are being prevented from their individual and communal efforts and endeavors, Elon included.
You are confusing mission with status.
