Competitive forces exist without capitalism. Do you think the Easter Island resources were decimated by capitalism? do you think Neanderthals wiped out most of the mammoths due to capitalism? Do you think the socialist govenrments of lesotho, Venezuela and China are decimetin g their environments due to capitalism?

Plundering of resources and environment has been a trait of human beings long before capitalism. Capitalism and the preservation of private property is the ONLY way to maintain important resources. Destroying the ONLY signal you have to measure value (price), as socialism does every time it subsidizes, taxes, or simply nationalizes, is the best way to destroy that resource forever.
