This idea of "we are saners" is insane. Literally.

History has shown many many times, that when you put scientists in charge of things, the use force and authoritarianism without fore or afterthough "for the good of everyone"

Its even worse when they have the power of government behind them.

Meanwhile, the tool you want to use to 'fix' the problem (government) is the largest contributor to climate change by far. Not only are they subsidizing the oil companies, lowering barriers for pipelines via subsidiy and eminent domain, funding refineries and fighting wars for oil companies, they also spend (or print) your money to build ever more roads (and have to maintain them), last mile oil infrastructure, etc etc.

In the meantime, the free market has created TONS of affordable alternative energy solutions, which slowly even without subsidy are taking hold.

The entire premise that governments around the world will fix this is utterly broken (may I venture to say that its a derainged position?), not only should trust be put into free markets, free markets are constantly prevented from existing by the very governments you wish to empower.

Paul is totally right on this. You want a faster response, let people create solutions and see if people want them.
