“I didn’t get that at all.

Her point is to highlight the disparity of experience for men and women in unwanted pregnancies.”

Which part didn’t you get, because your answer didn’t have anything to do with the part you quoted. She was specifically calling for mandatory vascectomies when she says:

Here’s another prevention idea: All males in the U.S. could get a vasectomy when they are ready to be sexually active.

My quote was in specifc rebuttal to this idea. The idea that “all men” responsible or not, should have a suregry performed on them to “protect” women who consented to a sexual relationship is exactly the type of thing we don’t want in a society. All women could have their tubes tied too. Heck everyone in the countr could have a temporary sterilization in order to knock out this problem altogether. Why doesnt she suggest this?Becuase she can’t help confusing consent with rape. I can’t think of another reason. Can you? Forced or coerced surgery is so wrong that I can’t believe anyone took the rest of the article seriously.

I totally agree that women are more often pressured and disadvantaged by the state. How does sterilizing all the men, temporary or not, solve that issue? It doesn’t. It just falls in the “we gotta do something so we are going to act as authoritarian on something. Same way people react when there is a shooting, or E. Coli breaks out, or there is a measles outbreak. “

To ignore consent when trying to speak for the hardship of women, when the great majority of their hardship comes from failing to respect consent on the part of some males, some female or the state, seems to be a ludicrous position.
