You’ve done it again Cory - another article that conflates “market based solutions” with “government collusion”
Its like every single person who writes in an anticapitalistic slant, literally cant see the forest for the trees.
The answer here is simple, but no one wants to do it because it decays the power of those in power.
Let people feel the cost of fossil fuel usage. If they do, they will avoid using it.
That means no subsidies. Zero. None for “exploration “, bot for refining. No eminent domain for roads and pipelines. Oil companies should fight their own wars. It means farmers should just use what is best for them.
It means not paying for the concrete in interstate highways or massive bridges and dams. No subsidies for tunnels, or buildings.
You want people to use mass transport? This is the way. They have to perceive the actual costs of participating in a market.
Everything else is government bullshit, because its government bullshit that got us here in the first place.
Also, we need nukes and fusion. Plentiful emmisions free baseload energy would go a long way.
